There is a deep longing in all humans to find relaxation.

The egoic/personality aspect of our life is inherently stressful. This stress, caused by incessant mind chatter, adversely affects our lives, our relationships, our physical health and general well-being.

We all long to be free from all the noise in our minds.

Meditation has been a natural part of many cultures for centuries, and has existed as a fundamental spiritual practise of almost all Eastern religions. It also foundational in Judaic-Christian religions in the form of prayer, deep contemplations and monastic chants.

Through clinical research, contemporary psychology has discovered that meditation is an effective therapeutic intervention for the treatment of anxiety and depression. This is now commonly referred to as “Mindfulness” and is an ever-growing preferred treatment in psychology clinics worldwide in conjunction or as an alternative to chemical based interventions.

Some aspects of meditation are full of joy, and in this state (called ‘Satori’ in the ancient Indian language of Sanskrit) is where we can become infused with ‘Divine’ pleasure. The deeper and more silent aspects of meditation, where there is a noticeable relaxation of the mind and body while sitting quietly, would be referred to as ‘Samadhi’. Samadhi may not have much noticeable sensation, but is experienced as a deep relaxation which infuses the very core of us.

Ultimately we are all longing for this relaxation of mind and body.

For one week we will practice silent sitting together with enquiry and sharing. Since meditation becomes deeper the more we practice, this week will give us the opportunity to find these deeper quiet spaces within us. As we will practise together, you are likely to experience a sense of becoming more ‘whole’ and losing the usual ‘separation’ inherent with the mind/personality.

Those who struggle to meditate are welcome, those who wish to deepen their practise are welcome, those who are brand new to meditation and have never meditated before are very very welcome.

Come and experience the sensations of ‘wellness’ and ‘wholeness’ that are heralded by both the ancient sages and the neuroscientists.

‘Meditation is adventure, the greatest adventure the human mind can undertake. Meditation is just to be – no action, no thought, no emotion. You just are, and it is sheer delight.’ -Osho
